Not every designer has creative talent along with the ability to handle all the details of a major project. Connie Glazer is able to do both, and at the same time remain composed and professional. We hired Connie because of the way she responded to the style of our house in Santa Barbara. The style of our custom designed home by architect, Jeff Shelton, defies categorization and has often been described by reviewers as reminiscent of Gaudi “with a twist.” Connie understood from the outset that the interior design had to respect this unique architecture. We are so happy with what she did in the Great Room, which has a 16’ coffered, wood ceiling. Connie avoided the trendy and the predictable by doing custom designed upholstered pieces in profiles that lean from formal to whimsical. She paid attention to details and oversaw the construction of custom made pieces such as the oversized sofa and ten dining chairs, even inspecting each piece before the upholstering was done. For this project, she was pulled hundreds of fabric samples at LA design houses, got our approvals, had custom cushions and pillows made— and delivered as promised. Connie is also flexible. When my husband and I saw a ready-made breakfast table table we liked, Connie had a local finisher enrich the finish to give it the right character. Connie measures everything twice. She got the scale of the custom dining room table exactly right. A friend of mine with a larger budget than ours told me her designer delivered chairs that were too short for their new dining table! That would never happen with Connie. She was also meticulous in managing estimates and budgets. She found ways to customize ready made linen drapes for a less important room to keep us within budget. We loved working with Connie to update and outfit our condo. Since it was a second home for us we needed everything. Connie evaluated our home and brought it up to date with new flooring, paint, window treatments and redesigned the way space was used to better fit us. She then outfitted it with a beautiful combination of new, old, and custom pieces so it is our home, not a showroom. Connie has extensive experience with suppliers and workmen so she was able to guide us toward what would work best for us. I am not as tall as my husband, and much upholstered furniture is too big for me. Connie's knowledge of suppliers' pieces provided us with the most comfortable sofa we have ever owned. She was also great with the practical stuff like solar shades for the sunny side and towel racks where you need them. And the most unbelievable thing was how fast Connie got it all done - much faster than I thought possible in "normal" (non pandemic) times. I really enjoyed working with Connie, and hope to again soon - the kitchen has some odd things going on that I am sure she can fix! She is highly talented, knowledgeable, and experienced in her field and worth every penny of her fee. We achieved my highest expectations. |
